Low Key Photography -Contrast
Passport style portrait in a Hurrell style should be
achieved.
Saved as a JPEG – what is the difference between JPEG and a
PSD file.
JPEG is a smaller file size.
I can improve this by bringing the light closer to me which
causes my face to go brighter. Then I should have used the desaturation tool to
make the picture black and white so it loses all the colour.
We used layers. We adjusted the brightness and contrast. We
copied the layers when we changed something so we can protect the layers. We
desaturated the picture to black and white. We have created a picture which was
taken by Hurrell.
The tools which were used are:
Layer Mask – use paint brush to remove, white to
add/restore. Greys to blend.
Crop – use by selecting area and selecting ‘crop’
Desaturation - to make the picture turn into black and white
Paint bucket – to make one layer have a fill of the colour
black so the background will be the same colour throughout as before there was
different colours in it such as grey.

Creating a Logo

Creating a Logo
I
created this logo by using Photoshop. The first thing was to write out what was
wanted to be said in the logo. So I decided to do YOLO LTD. This allowed me to
put a different tone into the text and the letters to be changed. So I decided
to change the letter Y into a different character. Then I also changed the different
letters which were olo. Then I decided to add LTD into the logo as most
companies have LTD in the name. I also decided to add 3 stars into the logo
which gave it more of an eye catching view.

Type experiments
What I did?
I used different tools to create different
types of texts.
The tools I used are:
Knife tool
Pen tool
Anchor tool
Paint brush
Scissors tool
The first thing I did was create a
circle than select the circle and write a text I want to. Then use a tool
called Area type tool which allowed me to write around the circle.
Than the second activity I did was
to write my name and used a tool which allowed me to make a text longer and
bigger.
Than the third activity I did was
to write my name and then use a knife tool / scissors tool. I decided to use
the scissors tool which made the name look more Gothic.

Travel log
The first thing I did was go onto google and find a picture
of something I liked. The picture I liked which was New York City in the night.
The task was for me to edit a picture onto another picture which is a background.
I decided to get the Dubai's Burj Al-Arab and put it onto the comer of the view
of New York City.

Making a character
I had drawn a circle first which gave me the face shape
needed. Then I had dawn a small circle inside for his eyes on both sides. Than I
had drawn smaller circles inside his eyes for his pupils. Than I had used the
paint bucket to give the pupils a certain colour. Then I used the shape tool
and drew 2 ovals to create the nose. I than drew a circle and then used the
knife tool to create it into a half circle.

Portrait
This was taken in a photography studio which allowed me to feel as if I was in a actual studio taking pictures. To get the perfect amount of light needed in that picture I was required to move around the light which was to the left of me. The point of this was to try get a low-key lighting photography like George Hurrell. It took a while for me to get the correct lighting needed as I needed only one side of face. This took me around 3 attempts to do and I succeeded. The equipment used was a camera, 2 tripods, one light.

Layer Mask
I used a layer mask. I did that by using a paint brush tool
and the colour black which causes the older image to come up. Where’s the
colour white shows the newer picture and I decided to have the child show from
the older picture. This would catch an eye of a person and make them want to
find out why she is there. I put her there so it would catch the eye of people
looking at the picture and make them think how has the person done that.
I created this newsletter by using InDesign which was to put
2 columns on one page and on the next page add 3 columns. This allowed me to
start the story on page 1 and then carry it onto page 2 with more detail. This
allowed me to put pull quotes into it which would make an effect on the person
reading it no matter their age.
I was told to add a few pictures into the newsletter so that
the person reading it can look at pictures as well. I was told to also use text
which would be readable by anyone and use a size which isn’t too big or too
small. The size I used was 12pt which is a size which is easily readable. I
used a text called Poor Richard which also gave it more of a posh look. At the
end of the newsletter I added a quote to tell people that going on holiday is
what makes you speechless and then turns you into a storyteller.
